Stoneground Flour - Uses, Nutritrional Information and Recipes

Stoneground flour is made in the traditional slower way, by grinding wheat between two stones. Nothing is added or removed during the milling process and retaining the wheat germ and bran means that stoneground wholemeal flour has a different, fuller texture than brown flour, which only uses about 85% of the original wheat grain. Stoneground flour is high in fibre and provides the health benefits of the entire wheat grain.

Stoneground flour is ideal for healthy, nutritious breads and rolls, and can be eaten as part of a low GI diet. Stoneground flour can also be used for rich fruitcakes.

Marriage’s produce three stoneground flours, which are suitable for bread machines and baking by hand:

Strong Stoneground Wholemeal flour

A special flour ground in the traditional, slower way between Marriage’s French Burr stones. Nothing is added or removed from this nutritious flour, giving a delicious nutty flavour. Ideal for tasty rolls and bread, especially with the addition of fruit or nuts and seeds
