WHITE BREAD
Very Strong Canadian White flour
Makes 2 x 450g loaves
- 600g Marriage’s Very Strong 100% Canadian White flour
- 8g salt
- 15g lard or margarine
- 370ml tepid water
- 1 x 7g sachet fast acting or easy blend yeast
Place the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl. Add the yeast.
Rub the fat into the flour, make a well in the centre and add enough tepid water to make a soft dough. Bring the dough together and knead for 5 minutes. Cover and leave for 10 minutes. Knock back the dough and turn onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into two, knead each piece and fold into two greased bread tins.
Cover with pieces of oiled food film and leave to rise in a warm place for 50 to 60 minutes. Remove the film and place dough in a preheated oven at 230°C, 450°F, Gas Mark 8 for approximately 25 minutes. When cooked remove from tins immediately and allow to cool on wire rack.
